Built up an Enterprise Architecture of the Federal Transport Authority (FTA), so that the government of Ethiopia can completely re-introduce a set of new integrated systems: Citizen Drivers License system, Vehicle Registration system, Penalty Management system and Road Traffic Accident monitoring and reporting. Firstly, Architected As-Is primarily the Business Architecture so that together we could better define the To-Be Business and IT Architecture. This took the form of various deliverables. As-Is Architecture, To-Be Architecture and a Terms of Reference for scoping out a programme of work as part of an RFP to be released internationally, to acquire a set of firms who will implement the various solutions.
A short piece of work to Establish a baseline As-Is Enterprise Architecture for the Municipality, so that they firstly meet their Policy Framework requirements from Provincial and National Government to establish and operate an Enterprise Architecture by 2019.
Secondly to assist the CIO/IT Manager in understanding the Business more accurately, to offer a solid baselined Architecture. This then allows for a coherent To-Be well planned set of strategic IT Services to be defined and to publish a Roadmap taking the Municipality forward.
As part of an overall 5 year EA strategic drive across the Council to reduce costs and innovate, I assisted on the Customer Services Transformation programme in developing the Roadmap, enhancing the Blueprint models, documenting strategic direction and capabilities offering various alternatives and recommendations. Because they so liked what had been done in terms of modelling, I was asked to instantiate their fledgling EA practice within the City Council, specifically in procuring and implementing and mentoring on an EA Modelling & Governance Tool that could assist all Business Architects across the Strategic programme, to form a core enterprise wide set of Architecture models and building up the EA practice and governance processes.
Analytics and Risk Technology Project. Architected and worked on building a Financial Risk Analytic Platform to integrate data, tools and analytic financial risk models using a virtual client and server environment. This was to begin enforcing the new Intensive and Intrusive Financial regulation process and to manage Firms Financial portfolios and monitor all the various forms of Risk. Building blocks were wide and varied from simple open source to expensive COTS products. e.g. Subversion, Java code, JBoss App Server, Excel, JSPWiki, Apache, Oracle 10g, Eclipse, Perl, C++ with Analytic tools such as MatLab, SAS, Mathematica, Algorithmics. Also R language, Nigem, RATS/CATS, eViews, etc. Used TOAD, Sparx Enterprise Architect (UML and Archimate) with others to follow as the FSA evolve their ideas in an Agile and iterative manner. Used VMWare ESX 4.0 for Red Hat Linux as well as Windows Servers and clients.
